2oz rye whiskey or bourbon
1oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
.75oz simple syrup
.5oz red wine
Add the whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously until well-chilled.
Fine strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
Carefully pour the red wine over the back of a bar spoon. This will create a floating layered effect on top of the drink.
N/a option: use cranberry juice and ginger beer. To make it bubbly, use ginger ale.
