Ingredients:
1-750mL bottle of vodka
2-3 tbsp gochugaru flakes
Other necessities:
32oz glass canning jar with lid
glass liquid measuring cup
cheesecloth
funnel
Directions:
Wash and dry the canning jar and lid then set aside.
Measure 2-3 tbsp of gochugaru flakes into the jar according to your own desired heat level.
Fill it with vodka. You will have a little vodka left in the bottle. Make yourself a cocktail or save the rest but do not get rid of the empty bottle.
Seal the jar and store it in a cool, dark place for 24-48 hours. Check on it occasionally and give it a gentle shake here and there.
After 24 hours, open the jar and check the aroma. If you feel happy with the intensity, move on to the next step. If you feel it needs more intensity, leave it in for another 24 hours.
Layer a fine-strain colander with cheesecloth. Slowly pour your infusion through the colander into the measuring cup. This may take some time since the pepper flakes may slow the flow of the liquid but be patient. If you need to stop and use a clean cheesecloth, go ahead.
Once you've strained all of the liquid, pour it through a funnel back into it's original bottle.
