Beef Bulgogi

Prep time: 5 min

Cook time: 10 min

Servings: 2-4

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp mirin or rice vinegar

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp maesilaek (Korean plum extract) (optional)

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil, plus some for garnish

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef

  • 1 large onion, sliced, divided in half

  • 6 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 green onions, chopped

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, plum extract, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Mix well. Add the beef, half the onion, garlic, and green onions. Mix well and let marinate for 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator.

  2. Heat a large pan or skillet over high heat, and 1 1/2 tbsp cooking oil. Add the marinated beef and cook until it is fully cooked, for about 9 minutes. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat.

  3. Next, add 1/2 tbsp of remaining oil and the rest of the onions. Place bulgogi right on top of the onion and garnish with sesame oil and the green onion.

  4. Serve with rice and enjoy!
